Democracy is a popular form of government. The term comes from â€Å"demokratia†, from demos, or â€Å"people† (Dahl 1). Democracy is a type of government that is supposedly ran by the people or as others would say population. The supreme power is in the hands of the people. We as a nation exercise this power by having the right to vote. Most of all, we vote the people in to represent us by each state. Then, the state representatives make decisions and vote for our best interest. In other words, majority of the people would rule. This could be viewed to some people as a much safer way for the government. Most of all because voting shows equal opportunity to all citizens. Democracy has a long and successful history. It offers many more advantages to†¦show more content†¦I feel that we should always do things the right way. Yes, the illegal immigrants are wrong for coming without a pass and documents. I feel that we should enforce this, but we should also make th ose who are legal in the United States to feel welcomed. We should give others the opportunity we had to be free. The last freedom that makes me feel like our freedom has declined would be America’s economic freedom. This has been on a decline since the past decade (Kim 1). If freedom of religion declines, it may affect the community to past traditional and moral codes, and defining ritual practices (Abramson 1). State and Religion is not comparable and should not be compared not reflect upon each other. The American dream â€Å"is an idea that suggests that anyone in the United States can succeed through hard work and has the potential to lead a happy, successful life† (American 1). After reading this definition I can say that the American Dream is still relevant, but is changing. There was a time when woman would stay at home, cook, clean, and watch over the children. The males would be the breadwinners in the family. Now, the woman has as much rights as the men to go out and make money. They don’t necessarily have to be â€Å"housewives†. In other words, â€Å"taking a lead can be as simple as taking control of your own destiny† (How the 3). The younger generation is also helping transitioning the American Dream. This cause and effect is demonstrated by many of the earths environmental systems. Deep in the heart of Florida lies a natural resource known as the everglades. This particular system is extremely complex and one that follows the action-reaction principle. Both the correct environmental features, as well as the right rock layers and substrates created the everglades. Geology and the environment created a system that has been nearly destroyed by man. Now he is trying to return the glades to life with a complicated set of levees and canals. In order to restore the everglades to life, one must understand them. How was this hive of life created, what happened to it, and what is currently happening to it? What processes can be invoked to help clean the water, remove pollutants, and restore water flowage. The underground aquifer is tapped by every city in Florida. This partially drains some of the water that would otherwise flow in to the everglades. This scene is Viannes ultimate triumph: it is a glorious scene in which Reynaud Is exposed and he leaves to never be seen again. In the movie, this scene comes across as sad and sympathetic, a proud man finally lvlng In. until now, the Comte had believed h e could still save his community from Wanne if he Just worked hard enough, but in the end he only discovered hes just like his townsfolk, In the novel, Harris turns Reynaud into an animal, to be laughed at and forgiven. Vianne actually saves the Comte from public humiliation when she and the young priest swear to secrecy and they all become friends. The novel is narrated by Vianne and Reynaud respectfully, which tells the story from both their viewpoints. But at the end of the movie it turns out that it was narrated by Viannes daughter Anouk. The movies plot may be the way Anouk remembers the story, or maybe even a version of the story she was told. A version that has been passed down and somewhat changed through time, Just as Viannes mother told her stories to Vianne, and Vianne told them to Anouk. Although between the two of them, still many similarities and differences can be made.
